Lugenia was the daughter of Thomas Dandridge COLLINS and Missourie Ann Harman. John WALLING Jr. and Rhoda CHISUM were married 1 Sept 1824 in Tennessee. Bud's immediate family was as follows:

John WALLING Jr, son of John WALLING Sr and Ann CHISUM, was born 19 May 1804 in Barren Co, KY. John's spouse, Rhoda CHISUM, was born 1 Sep 1808 in TN. (The ancestors of Rhoda have yet to be proven, but is probably the daughter of Isham Russel Chisum and Permelia Roberts.) John WALLING Jr died 18 Jan 1887 in Era, Cooke Co, TX. His obit was as follows:

         "John Walling Jr. died at his home near Era, Cook county at 11 A. M. Tuesday, January 18, 1887. John Walling one of Texas grandest old Veterans and noblest citizens.  John Walling was born in Barren County, Kentucky, May 19, 1804. The father and family moved from thence to Tennessee in 1806. There John Walling (the subject of this notice) married Rhoda Chisom, in 1824, who still survives him and is a resident of our county. A veteran of the hardships, trials, and triumphs of 50 years life in all the changes seen in frontier life in Texas.
        In 1833 Mr. and Mrs. Walling came to Texas locating in Nacogdoches county. They moved in 1836 to Rusk county where Mr. Walling established a Ferry on Sabine River on the Road from Henderson to Marshall and is yet known as "Walling Ferry." The family then in 1853, moved to Limestone county, thence to Cook county in 1870, where the have ever since resided, loved and respected by all who knew them.
        Mr. Walling served in the War of Independence and engaged in many a conflict with the Red Man during his frontier life.  Peace to his ashes."

William A. WALLING served in the Confederate Army from 15 Jan 1862 until 23 May 1865. He served in Company A of Cook's Regiment of Heavy Artilery. Lugenia filed an Application of Indigent Widow of a Confederate soldier. The application reflects she married William 30 June 1859 in Hill Co, TX. The application also reflected Lugenia and William moved to Cooke Co, TX, about 1888.

William Alfred WALLING was born in Rusk Co, TX (based on the obit of his father). Rusk County is just north of Nacogdoches County near the Louisiana border. John WALLING Jr moved his family due west to Limestone County. Limestone County borders Hill County on it's north boundry. Bud and Lugenia had six daughters and no sons.
