Elijah Kaufman CHISUM, son of John#3 and Margaret, died April 1860 and is buried in Woden, Nacogdoches Co, TX in Jacob's Chapel Cemetery. He emigrated to Texas in Dec 1836, a few years after his sons, John and William. He was issued a 2nd class headright #217 and shows up in tax lists for 1837, 1839 and 1840. Elijah and his 3rd spouse, Salina, are listed in the 1850 Census of Nacogdoches Co, TX.

They are both in Texas in 1833 and are listed in the 1835 census of Nacogdoches Co, TX, next door to John WALLING (Jr). William P was listed as a single man and shows up in tax list for 1837, 1839 and 1840. John was a member of Cap Blount's Co during the Texas Revolution. John died 27 Jan 1892 and is buried in Altus, OK. Character certificates for John and William can be found in the General Land Office of Texas.

Much is written on John Simpson CHISUM and will not be expanded on. John is buried next to his father, Claiborne C. CHISUM, in the Chisum Cemetery in Paris, Lamar Co, TX. The only other grave in this cemetery and the first, is John's mother, Lucinda Armstrong CHISUM, who was buried 31 Oct 1837. A Texas State Historica Marker has been placed at the cemetery.
